New York Botox® Injections for Unwanted Wrinkles in Westchester County
At Cosmetic Surgery Associates of Westchester in Harrison, New York, Dr. Greenwald expertly administers BOTOX® Cosmetic, one of our office’s most frequently performed cosmetic treatments. BOTOX® Cosmetic is a simple, nonsurgical, physician-administered treatment that can temporarily smooth moderate to severe frown lines between the brows in people from 18 to 65 years of age. It is the only treatment of its type approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). BOTOX® Cosmetic has also shown efficacy in treating transverse lines of the forehead as well as crow’s feet located next to the eye. Dr. Greenwald performs BOTOX® Cosmetic treatments in both of his New York offices (Harrison in Westchester County and Carmel in Putnam County). BOTOX® Cosmetic is a purified protein produced by the Clostridium botulinum bacterium, which reduces the activity of the muscles that cause those frown lines between the brows to form over time. Specific muscles are targeted for injection with BOTOX® Cosmetic (i.e. the corrugator and procerus muscles when treating frown lines between the brows). In 2005, approximately 3.3 million procedures were performed with FDA-approved BOTOX® Cosmetic.
Prior to your BOTOX® Cosmetic treatment, Dr. Greenwald will inquire about your medical and surgical history including current medications and allergies. It is important to be thorough when discussing your medical history as safety is Dr. Greenwald’s top priority. Your full disclosure of all pertinent medical information prior to surgery will reduce the incidence of unwanted complications. Dr. Greenwald will first ask you what your concerns and goals are. Your face and neck will then be carefully examined and Dr. Greenwald will determine what areas of your face and neck may benefit from treatment with BOTOX® Cosmetic. The proposed treatment areas (worry lines, frown lines, crow’s feet) will be numbed with a topical anesthetic prior to your treatment. Dr. Greenwald will then use very small needles to carefully inject the BOTOX® Cosmetic. After the treatment, the areas may be iced for a short period of time. You may resume your normal activities when you leave the office. BOTOX® Cosmetic can alleviate wrinkles with little or no discomfort, and the entire procedure can often be performed over a lunch break.
If a patients has very deep wrinkles between the brows or elsewhere, a combination of BOTOX® Cosmetic and facial fillers (Restylane®, Juvederm®, or fat injections) may be needed to achieve the desired results. Dr. Greenwald will discuss this with you prior to beginning any treatments. If wrinkles are deep or severe and likely to require combined treatment with BOTOX® Cosmetic and a facial filler, Dr. Greenwald typically performs the BOTOX® Cosmetic treatment first and then has you return to his Harrison, New York office one week later for the filler treatment. Dr. Greenwald believes this sequence of treatments leads to optimal results when using BOTOX® Cosmetic and fillers such as Restylane®.
